When to visit London?

As you may already know, the British weather is really sassy. While I’m writing this, 10 minutes ago it was a storm, and this second the sun is shining and the sky is clear. By the time I’m going to finish writing, the storm/sunny weather will change at least 4 times (we are in May). There’s no perfect time to visit London. It really depends on what you’re expecting to do. If there are many things to see in London on your list, or you’re looking for unique things to see in London that requires dry weather, you should definitely consider the May-September period!

London is always busy. When I first visited the city, it was January, and the weather was perfect for sightseeing. Since I live here, I did learn a few things. October-November tends to be the rainiest month of the year. It’s raining almost all the time. If you want to enjoy a bit warmer walks, definitely try to visit in the summer – however, it’s high season! The summers in England are chilly, but as long as the sun is out, it’s really enjoyable. So if you’re looking for the best things to do in London in 2 days, and you don’t want to risk being caught by a shower over and over again!

#10 Tower of London

things to see in london

Tower of London, one of the best things to see in London in 1 day, but if you’ve got time to go inside it’s definitely one of the best things to do in London in 2 days! The place everyone should visit, you heard of Henry the VIII or not! The historic castle is located on the northern bank of Thames, in central London. This is really a must-see, to learn a bit more about British history, the famous king of England, Henry the VIII! If you’re looking for things for kids to see in London, a castle visit can work great!

The Tower of London had many roles over history. It served as an armory, the home of the Crown Jewels of England, a treasury, a menagerie and it also served as also as a prison. 16th and 17th centuries important people were inprisoned here, such as Elizabeth I before she became queen. Also Sir Walter Raleigh, and Elizabeth Throckmorton. This use has led to the phrase “sent to the Tower”.

My favorite period of British history is the dynasty of the Tudors, and especially Henry VIII. He was a very complex figure and all he did during his life made him one of the most famous kings of England. Henry VIII was the king who established his own church, the Anglican Church, so he can marry and divorce freely. Then had 6 wives. Two of them, Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard were executed in Tower Green, in the Tower of London.

If you’re looking for unique things to see in London, and the best things to see in London in 2 days, I really do recommend the Tower of London! The tickets for the Tower of London can be purchased online, which will also help you avoid the crowds and staying in the queue for a ticket for too long!

If you’re looking for the best things to see in London in 2 days, or things for kids to see in London, the British Museum shouldn’t be up for vote! The British Museum is located in Bloomsbury, in Central London. The museum owns more than 8 million items in its permanent collection. This makes it one of the largest exhibitions in existence!

The collection of the British museum is really important as it’s owning a wide collection from the beginning of human culture to nowadays. Not to forget, that it was established in 1753 as the first public national museum in the world. The British Museum is definitely one of the cool things to see in London!

Interesting things to see in London: British Museum

First of all, the main entrance of the museum is on Great Russell Street. If you’ve been looking for the best free things to do in London, the British Museum is absolutely free! Although a small donation is suggested. There are some exhibitions and especially some temporary exhibitions that have separate fees, but it’s best to check out for these on the museum’s website!

The British Museum is really large, and as I have mentioned earlier, it has quite an imposing number of items in its collections, so it’s best to plan for a long visit. To stay up to date with opening hours and exhibitions, I really recommend visiting the official website of the British Museum!

Currently, the tickets for adults are £28.00, and it’s really recommended to book your tickets in advance, to avoid crowds. If you’re looking for things to see in London in 1 day, to fit a ride on the London Eye in, and not miss other important venues, I’d say it’s impossible. things to see in london

When it comes to the best things to see in London in 1 day, unique things to see in London, free things to do in London and architecture things to do in London… Well, the Westminster and the Big Ben are definitely the #1!!!

Unfortunately at the moment is no way anyone could soo too much of the Westminster or the legendary tower, Big Ben. It’s all under construction and wrapped until sometimes in 2021. So if you’re planning to visit London after the autumn of 2021, you should have again the stunning view of the Big Ben and the palace of Westminster.

The Palace of Westminster is the House of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It’s located on the North bank of the Thames in the heart of London. The palace served as the home of the English kings between the 12th and the 16th centuries when a fire destroyed most of it.

To visit the Parliament, check for up-to-date openings hours and details on the official site of the UK Parliament. I’d say that if you’re looking for interesting things to see in London, and things to do in London that you should really consider, the Westminster is that!

Big Ben is basically the nickname of the tower clock tower of the Palace of Westminster. It’s official name now is the Elizabeth Tower, named after Elizabeth I. The magnificent tower was designed and built in a neo-gothic style, and it’s the most iconic building of London and the United Kingdom. The ticket price to visit the tower and the parliament will cost an adult £15, and you’ll need about 1,5 hours for the visit.
